Q: what are the sizes of engines that will fit in a 2000 hyundai accent gs?
I want to know what other size of engines that will fit into a 2000 hyundai accent gs other than the 1.5 liter.

A: There are probably a lot of choices BUT if you live in a State that has Emissions Testing, then changing the engine for a different/larger engine will cause the vehicle to fail the Emission Test. Also, your vehicle was built as an economy vehicle, so wanting to “soup it up ” may not be all that good of an idea………….I enjoy the 35 – 40 mpg I get with my 2002 Accent !!

Q: When should the gas light come on in a Hyundai Accent?
My 2003 Hyundai Accent only has a 11.9 gallon gas tank. The needle was very close the E, so I took it to fill it up. The gas light was not on. When it was done filling up, it took 10.257 gallons of gas, and probably could have taken more, the guy didnt tap it. Should I be concerned that the gas light didnt come on?

A: After working on Hyundai cars for 4yrs it’s amazing the number of people that were concerned about the low fuel gauge,pretend it does not exist.NEVER run the fuel tank low enough to turn it on,the only thing that lubricates the fuel pump is gas,run low on gas pump gets hot do this enough times pump fails pay 400to600$ to replace is an expensive lesson to learn,so it does not matter that it doesn’t come on.

Q: How much will it cost to re-paint my Hyundai Accent?
I drive a 2-door 2004 Hyundai Accent. It’s slightly smaller than a Honda Civic, for reference.

How much would it cost to re-paint the entire car at the average local shop or a Maaco? How much would it cost to just paint the front and rear bumper to match the car?

A: 1. Complete re-paint, same color, even on a small car, you are talking at least $2000 at a local body shop.

2. Maaco, why?? If this is the route you want, find a 6 yr old with a spray can, they will do better job.

3. Just bumpers, $350 a piece to re-paint, at least.

4. Call up used car lots and ask who they use for a touch up paint company. These guys do mobile work and can paint complete bumpers, normally WAY below a body shop price. They can take care of you (this is what I do), average bumper re-paint is $150-$200.

Q: How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?
1999 hyundai accent. 1.5 L. I realize its a big job no matter what. Im wondering how bad? Like do you deep to pull the motor? Or perhaps the front clip? Or maybe the passenger side fender. Im sure i can do the belt job. Just dont want to do more work than needed, like I dont want to fight with it all day just to find out I needed to pull the motor in the beginning. Thanks in advance

A: You don’t really have to pull the engine out. It is a SOHC engine and it doesn’t look that bad. It is a perfect engine to start with as a beginner. I started like everybody from scratch and now I know more than back then. I would advise you to either buy a technical manual for this car or get someone to supervise you (just in case) otherwise, should something come up you might be in for the whole day if not longer. The timing belt is located on the pass side towards the right front wheel. You have a lot of component to remove before you get to it including the engine mount. To remove the mount you have to somehow suspend the engine or support it on a jack (do not put the jack on the oil pan, find a solid point to support the power train). Also, it is important to mark the belt and line – up the top with the bottom of the engine. You have to find the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Lining-up the engine has to start from TDC point.

Overhaul, not an easy job but at the same token its something that could be accomplished (with a little supervision).

I have a ‘03 Hyundai Accent with an automatic transmission, and I was hoping to know what steps would be required to make the switch.

A: Jack up the radiator cap and put a car with manual transmission already in it.

Q: Where is the emergency trunk release on my 98 Hyundai Accent?
I bought a car that has the handle of the hatch broken off. I want to release the trunk and was told there may be a trunk release somewhere on the car. Anyone know where that may be? I need to replace the tail light housing!

It’s a 1998 Hyundai Accent, base model.

My 2001 model has got a release lever below the driver’s seat

Trace where the release cable goes, you may be able to pull this cable to unlatch the trunk hatch (you may need a Vehicle Mechanic)

Q: what type of gas does a 2007 hyundai accent use?
I just got a 2007 hyundai accent yesterday and i wanted to know what type of gas does it use.
Also should i use ethanol?

A: 10% ethanol is O.K.

Regular (non-ethanol), gives better gas mileage .

Q: Are there any interchangeable transmissions for 2002 hyundai accent?
The transmission for my 2002 hyundai accent (manual /1.5 L/ SOHC) went out and I’ve been checking Auto-junk yards but no luck. Are there other hyundai’s with a compatible transmission?

A: LUKE. I can’t see from your profile where you’re from. In Canada you can find a transmission at junk yards for about 400-600 CAD, depending on mileage. I can give you some websites or phone numbers, should you be interested.

Q: Is a 2005 Hyundai Accent a good first car for a new college student?
I am buying my first car and I found a really affordable 2005 Hyundai Accent. I believe it has been in a minor wreck and it has been used. Other than that it seems to be a fine car. I was wondering if I would be worth my money to buy the car and if it would last me for at least 5 years, preferably longer.

A: they’re pretty good cars. especially for a college student. not too much will go wrong and if it does wont be too expensive. parts are fairly cheap.

depends on how many miles it has. and how much it is.

if it has under 50K miles, it’s pretty good. i wouldnt pay more then about hmmm 6 – 7 thousand for it. if its close to 100Kmiles on the car. not a very good idea. would still last you a few years. but you might have some problems

Q: What do you guys think about buying a Used Hyundai Accent?
Hi guys I was planning on buying a used honda civic, but am on tight budget so I am thinking about hyundai Accent now…what do you guys think about it, in terms of dependability and fuel efficiency and performance.

A: well it will get good mpg….other than that
they say if you can’t say somthing nice , say nothing at all !……

A: on indian roads it won’t give more than 20 per litre as u know that we are always stuck in jams.i would rather recommend u to buy any car launched by maruti.

Q: How do I change the clock on my 2002 Hyundai Accent?
I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent with a clock in the cd player. I can’t find out how to change the time on it, and I haven’t been able to find any answers on the internet. I’ve searched, and I can’t even find a picture of the same cd player that I have. Mine says Hyundai on the top left above the slot for cds and has the numbers 5064 next to the button marked DISP

It’s display is in the middle of the unit, and it’s has the channel buttons 1-6 on the right of the display. on buttons 4 and 5, it says +d and -d. It has a button marked loud and a button marked loc directly above the display. In the top left corner it has the eject button for the cd and a button marked BAND and a button marked BSM. It’s volume button also controls bass and balance and so forth. Any help would be appreciated.

Q: My 2002 Hyundai accent outside door handle broke and my child lock was on,how do i open it?
My hyundai accent outside door handle broke and child lock was on. It dosent open from the inside or outside. This happend to both back doors(4 door)….please help anybody!
My child lock is manual. How do i open the door panel with the door closed.

A: i think u cant take it off if the door is closed, impossible,, u have to do some cutting, thats what i would do, get new door panels and door handles.. =)

Q: What are some common problems with the Hyundai Accent?
I’m about to get a 2008 Hyundai Accent. Is their any common problems with the Accent that I should know about, or anything I should maintain more than normal? Anything you could tell me would be useful. Seat belt problems, wiring, engine, power steering, tail lights, trunk, wipers, door hinges, CD player, just anything I should know. Anything positive would be useful as well.

A: I have an 05 Accent, after 53K mi. it still gets 38mpg highway
The only thing I find as a negative about the car is that any time you remove pressure from the accelerator, it slows rapidly. On the highway at 70mph, if you remove the slightest pressure you will suddenly be going 55; in the city at 35mph, you will suddenly be going 25 if you move your foot at all. But this is how it is able to get such good gas mileage.

Q: Where is the Throttle Position Sensor on the 2003 hyundai accent?
I need your help Locating the Throttle Position Sensor on the 2003 hyundai accent.

A: Its on the Throttle Body, right beside the air intake hose coming from air filter, facing the fire wall side.
