Check out this great article and read about: Chevrolet Aveo!

Q: Is the Chevrolet Aveo a good first car?
Would a used Chevrolet Aveo (most likely between the year models of 2004 and 2006) make a good first car for a teen? Is it unreliable, or can it be a reliable car when well maintained? It would have to last for 5 years.
If it isn’t, do you have any better suggestions? (Civics are too expensive.)

A: I wouldn’t recommend a car this small to my worst enemy. Get yourself a nice used medium size car. A novelty of a small car wears off very quickly.

Q: what kind of motor oil does a 2005 chevrolet aveo take?
what kind of motor oil does a 2005 Chevrolet aveo take?

A: Call up your local auto parts store to verify but, it should be like everything else and take 10w40.

Q: What causes a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo to not start?
My sister called me to say that her car will not start after wanting to leave the store. She says that when she trys to crank it, the engine makes a clicking noise. All lights turn on when she puts the key in, But it just not wants to crank over.

A: Low battery voltage. (most common)
She may have left the lights on……
A simple jump start with “jumper cables” should do the trick.

Q: Does the Chevrolet Aveo have a limit on the radio code?
I had to get another battery and now my radio doesn’t work. Really don’t want go all the way back to the dealership. Is there a limit on the times I can put in a code?

A: yes there is a limit but when u exceed u can reset the radio just diconnect battery and you get a fresh start i think u get 6 tries

Q: What are some ways to increase the horsepower of my 2009 chevrolet aveo?
Any ways to get the horsepower up. I know its not that much of a car, i just wanna get the most i can out of it.

A: Sell it.

You already know it’s “not that much of a car”. You can’t take a turd and polish it to be anything more than a turd.

By the time you spend the several thousand dollars on intake, exhaust, headers, and anything else you come up with….you’ll still be slower than a car you could have bought for less money.

And in doing all those mods, you will also void your warranties.

It’s a lose-lose situation. Hardly attractive to anyone with some common sense.

Side note: Ignore anyone who says to get a chip….Google performance chips, and look at what they do. They make your engine run lean, which damages it over time, and barely grants more than 1-2 horsepower, if you’re lucky.

Q: Do you love the commercial of Chevrolet Aveo?
I aveo too mmmmmmm.
sh** I HATE THIS ONE
but later I discovered that many people love it and I also found a group on facebook about this commercial and it have about 40,000 member.
WHYYYYY?
is there any reason to love this commercial?

A: Honestly, I don’t like it, but with 40,000 lovers, I guess the marketing manager got a raise!

Q: what is the tires psi for a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo hatchback?
I bought the car recently and i noticed it didn’t come with a portfolio. i downloaded the owners manual, but found no psi for the tires. i want to know as soon as possible to not be driving around in under or over inflated tires. I’m planning on letting the dealer know he has to fork over a portfolio for me.

A: look on the inside of the drivers door for the correct pressure.

Q: Which Continental Tyres should I look for, for my Chevrolet Aveo driven under normal city conditions?
I drive the vehicle under normal city conditions. This is the first time I am going for the tyre change, after running the vehicle for 62000 kms. I m currently on Bridgestone Turanza 185/60/14. Pls suggest whether I should try Continental Tyres.

A: Get some Michelin’s best tires made last longer most have mileage warranty and handle and stop faster. You’ll think you’ve got a new car.

Q: How much would it cost to convert my 2008 chevrolet aveo from manual locking doors to power locking doors?
I know there are conversion kits but i am not good that kind of stuff and would rather have professionals do it either at a dealership or somewhere. May also be interested in power windows. Any ideas. thanks

A: If your going to have someone else do the labor, it going to be cost prohibitive. If there was factory power locks and windows available for that year, you can find the parts in a wrecking yard. Figure 1 1/2 hours per door, times 4 times $85 -$100 per hour. I wouldn’t

Q: Do you think there will be a problem driving 10 hours straight in a Chevrolet Aveo?
Do you think the little car can make it? Do you think any problems may occur?
Thanks! My g/f is coming up to visit and I don’t want her encountering any problems.

A: You mean your Daewoo Kalos?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Aveo

It should be fine, as long as you’ve maintained it properly, and check all the stats of it before you hit the road.

Other than that, it’s a cheap little car. Could explode.

Q: How much should i buy this car for(2007 Chevrolet aveo)?
want to buy this car but i dont know anything about cars so its hard for me to demand a price from the dealer i would like to bid 6000 with 1500 down payment.

How much would you pay for this car? (http://www.dewittmotors.com/cars/2007_Chevrolet_Aveo__KL1TD66627B711723.cfm)

A: It comes with the factory warranty too?!?!

$6000 is okay – Go for it! But read below too:

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2007-chevrolet-aveo.htm

Q: How much for tires for my Chevrolet Aveo?
My tire got a flat today and I need to replace the tire, how much do replacements usually cost for this car?

A: Between $60-$100

Try and get the same type tire as what the other three are. Sometimes tire dealers don’t have exact matches but they will try and give you the closest match by brand, tire rating, and size.

If you can, have the flat tire ‘plugged.’

Q: How much is my 2008 Chevrolet Aveo worth?
I bought it brand new in 2008, and I was wondering if there is a website that tells you how much your car is worth for selling. It would save me a trip to the dealership. It’s a sedan, RT LS model, fully loaded. Canadian value please. It has 38,503 KM on it.

A: Chuckles, let me tell ya something – The Aveo is a rebadged Daewoo made in Seoul, S. Korea. As with many Korean cars (Kia & Hyundai) they tend to have issues with resale values. Though many people proclaim they are better, you have to ask yourself, better at what? I have no idea why you want to sell it but let this be a lesson in life that you need to buy cars that have a history of low ownership costs. Right now in the U.S. the Honda Fit is #1 in lowest cost to own. Taking into consideration car price, fuel economy, insurance rates, & resale. It will provide the best bang for the buck in the long term. Now then, if you buy another Korean made car, I will spank you. Thank you for reading my rant.

Q: How does one change the interior air filter in a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?
The dealer has changed the filter once last year and that cost me a bit of cash. Does anyone know how I can change the filter myself?
By interior air filter, I mean the cabin air filter.

A: First off, I suggest cleaning often instead of changing due to the cost. However, it may be difficult to get to on this model.

First and oldest location of the cabin air filter would be under the cowling of the windshield. Open up the engine compartment and look on the passenger side just below the bottom of the windshield. There may be an access area to remove just the filter, or the complete cowl must be removed, including the wiper arms. If you have your old invoice when the dealer changed this, check the labor hours and amount. That would be a dead giveaway that the cowl must be removed.

On newer models, the cabin air filter is located inside the glovebox. The very front will give you access to it via a removeable panel.

When you have the filter removed, simply flip it upside down and drop it flat on concrete or asphalt several times. This will dislodge most of the larger trapped particles. Compressed air can be used as well. DON’T use water…they are paper filiments.

Then simply reinsert and reinstall any access panels and you’re good to go for another month or two. I would suggest cleaning it three or four times before a replacement is needed.

Q: Is A 2006 Chevrolet Aveo a good car to buy?
Im seeing alot online for sale cheap with low milage & I was wondering if this could be bc they were bad cars. Any tips would help thanks!

A: Chevy Aveo’s are junk that’s why there are so many for sale. Aveo’s are re-badged Daewoo’s from Korea. You are better off finding something else.

Check out this great article and read about: Subaru Impreza!

Q: can you turn a subaru impreza hatch into the coupe or sedan ?
can you turn a subaru impreza hatch into the coupe or sedan?
i want to turn my 1996 subu into a sedan/coupe
if so how, and EP estimated price?

A: Start with $20,000 to do it, and go up from there.

Yeah, that’s a bad idea. You compromise structural integrity and add weight to a car that isn’t meant to have all that. You want a coupe, buy a coupe. You want a sedan, buy a sedan.

Q: would a normal subaru impreza sound the same as a subaru impreza wrx?
i am wondering because i was on the magnaflow website listening to the sound previews of the exhaust systems for subaru impreza wrx models, but there is no sound preview for a normal impreza. so i am wondering if a normal impreza would sound the same as a wrx?

A: yes, the unequal length headers give the rumble.

Q: Is it worth buying a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan with 124K miles on it?
I am looking to buy a used 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. I have found one that is reasonably priced within the Kelly Blue Book suggestion, but it has 124K miles on it. Is it worth buying?

A: ^ uh, the WRX is a turbo, so don’t know what that persons talking about,

your question is hard to answer not knowing the price, and KBB can vary on location so say it cost 8k where you live, it could cost 7k where i live or the other way around

first thing first is get it checked out by a mechanic, preferably one who knows subarus well, all major cities have shops like these, don’t just go to some corner maintenance shop, go to one who knows these cars, it has a boxer engine and is turbo’d and has an intercooler, most shops don’t see these too often, not to say they arent good, but best to find specialists, to find a good local tuner who can help you, go to NASIOC.com, go to forums, then scroll down to NASIOC CHAPTERS and go to the one in your area, they will know a shop to go to and some might even know the car, most places will fully check the car for free or a minimal fee

124k is a bit, but depending on how its been driven, it might be fine, but price and condition of the car are the two MAIN factors, good luck

Q: Ideal engine for swapping into a 1999 Subaru Impreza?
what is the easiest engine to turbo and swap into a 1999 Subaru Impreza. Also I know some have issues with passing emissions, I need one that won’t fail.

A: Honestly i would just drop the wrx turbo in and see if there are other adjustments needed like transmission…i think it is the same.

Then if you really want more (have you driven a wrx???) just do intake, suspension, tires, etc.

PS TIRES…huge difference with awd…ok well at least in Forza

Q: Will an exhaust kit from a 1994 Subaru Impreza fit on a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT wagon with the same engine?
Im looking at buying a used exhaust kit from a guy that said its coming from his ‘94 impreza. It seems my ‘98 legacy gt wagon has the same engine, I’m wanting to know if these exhaust systems have the same mounts so that I can literally bolt it on. Any subaru experts know?

A: No, for several reasons. The most obvious one is that the cars are built on different platforms (chassis). The Legacy, be it sedan or wagon, is a bigger car than the Impreze (including WRX and STI).

Q: Should I sell a 2000 Accord and buy a Subaru Impreza WRX?
So I’ve been looking for a new car and thinking of selling my new car since graduating and a guy who works at a store next to me is selling his used 2007 Subaru impreza wrx. Has about about 20,000 miles on it and has a customized interior. He said the only problem was just the transmission, I forgot what exactly, but considering how these things are going for around 30,000, is this a good idea to buy? How much can the transmission take out of my wallet?

A: Quote -
>He said the only problem was just the transmission,
– Unquote

Are you kidding me ? have you ANY Idea how much does it take to fix that ? Why don’t you take that car to a Reputed Mechanic of your own (Not his) and ask him how much it will cost to fix ? Is he willing to deduct that cost from the Sale price ? If not you decline.

Seriously, why on earth you want to sell a nice car like the accord for the Impreza ? Even if you do want to, make sure he does not Overprice you. Do your homework and find out Edmunds.com TMV price for that car.

Q: Which American version of the first generation (94-2001) Subaru Impreza is the best? Year and trim?
I was interested in looking for a first generation Subaru Impreza and I wanted to know which year and trim would be the best. Since I can’t drive manual, it has to be automatic.

A: 2000 2.5 rs period. Bulletproof and looks good in 2 door version. Comes available with a sunroof, if you like sunroofs. It is sturdier than the 94-96 model and a 2000 – 2001 would be in better condition anyway. Cable clutch is eliminated and most of the rubber won’t be rotted out like the 94-96’s. Interior is sportier than earlier models and everything is easier to work on (more space).

Q: How bad does this alignment on 07 SUBARU IMPREZA OUTBACK SPORT LOOK ? Can I have adjustments done on the rear ?
2007 SUBARU IMPREZA OUTBACK SPORT

By the way, AM I ABLE TO HAVE ADJUSTMENTS ON THE REAR ???

A: If your car still under warranty, bring it back and have the dealership to adjust it for you. I think it still under the power train.

It looks awkward, I guessed when you drive it, you can feel the car is going sideway instead of straight.

The rear, you may need to take out the entire assembly and then adjust it. I don’t think you can adjust it with the OEM setting; unless you get the chamber kit.

Q: Could a 1997 Subaru Impreza handle a 1000w amp with subs?
Im thinking about getting a 1000w system for my 1997 subaru impreza but i was wondering if the car could handle it.

A: likely yes, no reason why not you may need a bigger alternator I recommend pintex alternators about 100.00 dollars

Q: Should I trade in my 97 subaru impreza rally sport for a 97 jeep cherokee sport?
Right now I have a 1997 Subaru Impreza Rally Sport edition and I kind of want to get an SUV. I miss my old Toyota 4Runner. Should I trade it in and get a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport or would that be a bad idea?

A: I wouldn’t. The Cherokee has not been as reliable as the Impreza. Another 4Runner would be a much wiser choice if you must part with the Subaru.

Q: do i need to remove the front axels to change a clutch on a subaru impreza wrx sti?
its a 2004 subaru impreza wrx sti.

A: No you don’t need to pull the axles to replace the clutch if you are pulling the engine to do it, but as a mechanic I can tell you it’s easier to pull the transmission ,in that case yes you need to remove the axles.

Q: where can i find a image of a subaru impreza with neons?
pictures of a subaru impreza with underglow.

A: You may want to try:

http://www.hincity.com/

Q: Putting a turbo in a 1998 Subaru Impreza?
I want to install a turbo kit in my 1998 Subaru Impreza it’s manual 5spd. with 101k miles on the engine what are somethings I should do first to the engine before I install a turbo? What is the difficulty level of this project?

A: i don’t know much about impreza engines, but most of the time when adding a turbo onto a naturaly aspirated engine, you’d have to get better pistons, connecting rods and etc because sometimes stock parts aren’t built to handle a boost and they will malfunction prematurely. now some cars have really strong engines like the miata or supra, but impreza i have no clue. maybe check out a subaru impreza forum where people might’ve already did what your thinking about doing.

just go on google and type “impreza forum”

good luck.

Q: Whats the EXACT difference between a Subaru Impreza Turbo and a Subaru Impreza sport?
Is the Subaru Impreza sport EXACTLY the same as the turbo models minus the turbo??

A: There is no “Subaru Impreza sport.” There was an Impreza Sport Wagon (also called Casa Blanca), and there is the Impreza Outback Sport. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza I’m going to assume you mean the Outback Sport. It is pretty much a standard Impreza, with one very notable difference: it has a raised suspension affording about 2.5 inches more ground clearance.

Like its big brother, the Legacy-platform based Outback Wagon, this makes the Outback Sport more usable in the back country for LIGHT off roading. The car can handle heavily rutted dirt roads and even ford SMALL streams; but, lacking a low range for its transmission, it is not a Jeep and cannot assault rock fall. In the U.S., the car uses the 2.5 litre engine, standard.

The turbocharged versions of the Impreza, the WRX and STI, use a different 2.5 litre engine. You cannot just bolt a turbocharger onto most engines and expect vastly greater performance. Stronger pistons, connecting rods, etc. are necessary to keep the normally aspirated engines from burning themselves out with the pressures of a turbocharger.

Q: Should I swap the engine to make my 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i into a WRX or convert my stock engine to WRX?
2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (non-turbo)
Which will save me money?
If engine swap, (EJ25 turbo) where can I get one for cheap? All the websites don’t have prices.
If conversion, then can someone give me the deatails for 2.5i engine and WRX engine (2008) to know what parts to get?
Thanks!

A: do a engine swap, tiger japanese and password jdm will have it most likely. Just yahoo “jdm engines” and youll get a lot of sellers. look on ebay too

Q: What is the song in the Cadillac SRX commercial?
Does anybody know?

A: 1901 by Phoenix.

Q: Is anyone familiar with the song from the Cadillac SRX commercial?
It opens with what sounds like a mandolin or strummed banjo and continues in sorta Louisiana style jazz with the lyrics : where’d you learn to do that so well (sung 2x). The melody and voice were compelling and to me quite moving. If anyone has any ideas I’d be thankful!!!

A: “Suzie Blue” by Ben Harper

Q: 2007 Cadillac SRX – How to replace the passenger compartment air filter (cabin filter)?
I note that there are two tabs holding a cover in place over the cabin filter. In which direction do I push the tabs? After pushing them, do I pull up on the tabs to remove the cover?
I note that there are two tabs above the cabin filter holding a cover. In which direction do I push the tabs – back, forward, down? How do I lift off the cover – does it spring loose, do I pull up on the tabs?

A: look under the hood iat the top near the passanger side there should be a compartment up there and under it is the filter

Q: How much would it cost to lease a 2010 cadillac srx?
One of them with like no upgrades or sunroof etc.(maybe with leather seats)

A: the srx costs somewhere between $35000-$50000. i would say you could lease one for $425. it really all depends on your down payment and credit

Q: How do you change a front turn signal on a 2006 cadillac srx?

A: good luck, this is a real pain. either remove the front bumper or inner fender well. or try to gently bend the bumper to remove the headlight, then remove cover over turn signal bulbs with a torx bit. replace bulb reinstalled all

Q: How much weight could a cadillac SRX pull? Possibly a 2 Horse trailer?
PLEASE help.

I’m looking for a luxury SUV that can pull my daughters horse trailer?

A: Here is some information I found at http://www.drawtite.com

The hitch for your SRX (will not fit with sport package fascia) is #75174 – $198.78

There is no drilling required for installation, but minor heat shield modification may be required.

Here are the installation instructions – http://www.draw-tite.com/fitguides/pdf/N75174.pdf

The hitch is rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs weight carrying and 5,000 lbs weight distributing. Which means you’d have to get a weight distribution set up like this – http://store.drawtite.com/dt7903.html in order to pull the heavier weight of 5,000 lbs.

*** You will need to check your owners manual to find out what your vehicle can truly tow***

The wiring will need to be wired to the battery. Your vehicle has LED taillights, so make sure you get a harness that is made for LED Lights.

Hope this helps!

Q: What is better Lexus RX 350 or Cadillac SRX?
My father can’t choose what car to buy because both are so nice…..what is your opinion?which is better?

A: The Cadillac has nearly a 100 year reputation for being top of the line for quality. Lexus has only been around for about 20 years.

Case closed.

Q: How much weight could a Cadillac SRX pull? Possibly a 2 horse trainer?
looking for a luxury small SUV, anny ideas?

A: Not unless its a small horse and trailer. Its based on the a car so it tows like one.

Standard towing is 2,000 lbs
Max towing is 4,250 lbs

If you want to tow that much weight you at least need a mid size truck based SUV.

Q: What is the location of the cabin air filter on a 2010 Cadillac SRX?
How do you get at the cabin air filter on a 2010 SRX

A: check owners manual. or any auto parts store can show you. Usually are behind the glove box but can be under the vents in the front windshield on passenger side.

Q: What is the song playing during 2010 Cadillac SRX commercial.?
The only words are “falling” a few times. During the new commercial for the Cadillac SRX. The cadillac website only has the commercial for the old srx commercial.
It sounds kind of like the killers..

A: Phoenix 1901 is playing mid song … the lyrics are here:

Remember to visit your local Cadillac dealer! Test drive any new model today.

http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/phoenix_lyrics_2091/wolfgang_amadeus_phoenix_lyrics_94809/1901_lyrics_916941.html

Q: What is the song playing during 2011 Cadillac SRX commercial? It sounds like a 1920’s song.?
I am not talking about the one with the Phoenix song. This is a newer one. Saw the ad during Monday Night Football.

A: Believe it or not, it’s Ben Harper – “Suzie Blue”

Q: im going to get a Cadillac CTS or a Cadillac SRX, which is a better all-around vehicle?
Just curious I’ve been debating for months!

A: I love both. My sister has the SRX (the mini-van style right?) and she loves it. I have driven it multiple times. I think the CTS is sporti-er but it has less storage room.

Q: Anyone own a Nissan Armada or a Cadillac SRX Suv?
I am looking to purchase one of these two vehicles and I was going to see if there were any owners out there that had likes or dislikes with these cars? I want something safe and comfortable for my children. I have already been to the government safety sites, but I wanted first hand opinions from real owners. I really like roomy vehicles with space in the back seat. Thanks!!

A: I owned 2 SRX’s and a friend has an Armada which I have driven a few times. They are both safe vehicles, however they do drive differently.

The SRX is built on the CTS Sigma Chassis, which means it’s an SUV body built on a car. The Armada is a full size SUV on a truck chassis, the Titan.

Both have V8’s with the Nissan having 317hp and the SRX having the Northstar 320hp V8, although the SRX comes standard with a 255hp V6. You would want to compare the Armada LE model to the SRX in order to get the leather, heated seats, and memory seating which is standard on the SRX.

Basically, the SRX has a smoother ride with an even power delivery. The 3rd row is pretty much useless, but the Ultra-View sunroof in a great option. This is a good choice and is a solid car, however Cadillac is coming out with a new SRX for 2010, which could effect the resale value, but if you keep it 4 or more years, then it won’t matter.

The Armada is a powerful SUV that has great interior room like the first 2 rows of the SRX, however the Armada seems easier to get in and out of. It is also exactly 1 foot longer than the SRX.

They are both good vehicles and respectible in their individual classes. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Q: I had a code that said Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2 on a 2006 Cadillac Srx, what is this?
I was wondering if somebody could tell me what that means or whats wrong with my vehicle and how I fix it. Thank You so much!

A: take it to a tune up shop get a diagnostic test done. could be a sensor going bad, could also be catalytic convertor going bad

Q: how to turn off speed limit on cadillac SRX 2005?
here is the question. there is a speed limit set to 125 mph. and i want to turn it off because i’m going out of town. and this really bothers me. any chance to turn it off? if so tell me how. thnx in advance.

A: You would have to take it to someone with access to a Tech 2, very expensive. The speed limiter would then be able to be removed, but remember the reason its there in the first place is to not over drive the factory tires. So if you were to get the limiter removed, to drive the vehicle safely at those speeds new tires will be needed.

Q: What type of car looks like Nissan Murano?
I really like the Nissan Murano car… but I am trying to see if there is something less expensive. Is there a good car that looks like that one but cheaper?

PLease advise…

Thanks
wow (rolling eyes to my first answer). People, let me make it clear.. any alternatives? Any OTHER MAKE/MODEL that look like that? (crossover?)

A: There are several cars that look just like a new Nissan Murano and are cheaper. They are called USED Nissan Muranos

Q: What are the measurements of the cargo space in a Nissan Murano?
I know the capacity in cubic feet (81.6), but that doesn’t tell me whether I can fit my new bookcase in the back of my friend’s Murano. Yes, I could just go and measure it, but it’s across town.

A: Murano’s cargo area is probably the weirdest shape. Pick-up trucks are for moving your friend wont want scrapes and tears on there luxury sport utility. Even a 32″ plazma tv won’t fit. There built for boxes of books small end table and carry grocerys really well. Long less than 4 1/2 foot might close the hatch width 4 foot height at 4′ less than 14″ the sides curve in a lot Large retangles just don’t go very well on a round Murano

Q: What kind of gas does the Nissan Murano use?
I am trying to choose between the Murano and the CRV but I heard the Murano only takes premium gasm is this true?

A: regular is fine

Q: For the Nissan murano, is the right bank the passenger side or the drivers side of the catalytic converter?
nissan murano 06. Mechanic said the right bank was clogged. I need to order a new one he didn’t know if it was passenger side. He gave me a paper saying that its a 3-way catalyst (right bank)

A: You are not very bright for even thinking that your Converter is bad. This car is too new. The converter can be washed out by spraying gum-out or other suitable cleaners through your intake system. Your converter has clogged up for a reason, it just doesn’t go bad, especially on Asian cars. You should have your throttle Body and idle control system thoroughly cleaned out, and flush the gum-out through your engine at various operating speeds. This will clean out the O2 sensors and the carbon that has built up in your system. Your problem can be caused by using really cheap gas, with insufficient detergent qualities. Try changing gas stations, or read the “top tier” fuel list on the web. Also, start using synthetic oils, is this keeps your breathing systems cleaner and extends engine life and sensor life as well. Good luck!!! Your car is too new!! GO the the Nissan dealer and have a nissan technician look things over for you. Ask their service department how many converters for this model are sold. I bet they haven’t sold any. You have some kind of fuel imbalance going on here. Have Nissan give you a computer check!! Your converter might still be under warranty. actually READ your manual about this thing!! DON’T GET DUPED INTO BUYING A NEW CONVERTER WITHOUT PROOF!!!! Your problem will just return!

Q: Nissan Murano making a warping sound, can it be rotors?
My 2004 Nissan Murano makes this warping sound(sorta like wah, wah, wah, wah), which doesn’t sound like metal on metal. The sound is very clear when steering right at most speeds. The sound is hardly there when driving straight, and it’s not there at all when steering left. I originally thought it may be due to old tires and a need for an alignment. I put on a new set of tires, then had them aligned. The sound is still there. I feel it may be a warped rotor on the right side of the car but would like to somehow get more opinions before I go and have it checked. What else could it be?

A: It’s brake pads. When you had ur tires put on, the mechanic should have told you you needed brakes. Since you have had that problem and noise, you may want to get your rotors turned or replaced. It may not fix the problem by only replacing ur pads. You hear more noise when you turn right because your master cylinder is on the driver side. So since the pads are worn and the rotors are bad, the master cylinder is pumping harder to compress the caliper. Once you let off your brake your still slightly compressed at your caliper due to the lack of pad. (it’s pushed in further than the left). Thats why you have noise on the right. Get the brakes and rotors looked at. If you replace the brakes, replace the rotors or get them turned if you have enough metal. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Also, make sure your master cylinder isn’t bad. Bad cylinder means bad brakes. It’s located on the fire wall, under the hood, infront of the steering wheel. It holds brake fluid. If it’s leaking from the fittings, replaqce it!

Q: How much is the Dealer cost of a Nissan Murano?
How much is the cost for dealerships that sell 2006 Nissan Muranos?
I am buying the car in Nova Scotia, and the dealer told me to make an offer to Nissan. He said usually cost plus 5-8% is reasonable so I am wondering the cost for the dealer.

A: Go to http://www.nada.com/ for realistic pricing on a Nissan Murano

Q: Where can I find a GPS system for a 2009 Nissan Murano?
I have a 2009 Nissan Murano and I bought it with the standard screen, I want to find where I can buy the touchscreen with the GPS to put it into my Murano. PLEASE HELP, I’m always lost.

A: Buy a portable GPS unit (Garmin is one brand). They are $130 and up. A Nissan installed unit is probably $2000.

Q: I damaged the side of my 09 Nissan Murano, both side doors are pretty badly dented; how much to fix?
Help!!!
I don’t have very much money, & today I hit one of the poles at the gas station, damaging both the side doors to my 2009 Nissan Murano. Can someone pleaseeee give me an approximate price as to how much I will need to fix it?!

A: Turn it in to your insurance company. All you will have to pay is the deductible………….md

Q: Should I buy a 2007 Nissan Murano with 43K miles?
I am looking at buying a 2007 Nissan Murano SUV for 16,900. It has (among others) heated leather seats, a moon roof, rear view camera, Bose stereo, and 6 disc CD changer but it also comes with 43K miles. My husband and I are debating whether the miles out weight the other benefits. I say yes – he says no.

Please help

Thanks

A: The answer is very simple guys. If they agree to give you a 100K mile bumper to bumper warranty, go for it! If no, then stay away. Sounds like an almost new car loaded with features, so if it’s being sold for so cheap that means somebody does not want it or like it anymore. Hopefully it is not because they had problems with it.

Nissan’s are known for their higher level of excitement and feature-laden vehicles but they are not known as the most reliable or gas-friendly of the Japanese brands. So if they do not give you the warranty, then the existing warranty should be either expired or close to it, I would take a close look at the 2005-2007 Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. The Toyota will be slightly pricier versus the Honda but better on gas, the Honda will be dirt cheap but not the best on gas, though you will get the same reliability as you would with any other car of the same brand.

Best wishes with your search!

Q: Has anyone tried to replace a 2004 Nissan Murano factory stereo system?
I have a 2004 Murano, with the Bose system (without navigation), and I read where the factory system can’t be replaced due to the climate controls being wired into the radio system. I’m not happy with the quality of sound, and want to replace everything. Is there a way around this? I’ve only looked online to find this, but haven’t talked to anybody yet on it. I will be very dissapointed if this is the case.

A: Vehicles with stero systems like that in the Murano, are becoming more popular, sadly enough. It is true about the wiring and that the radio can not be replaced with an aftermarket unit, without major rewiring. It can ve done, but it will be pricy. The time it takes to rewire the climate controls, and to build a new face for the system (as there are no replacement faces for this because of the non-replacable factor. If you are unhappy with the quality of the sound, I would suggest what was metnioned above and having new speakers, tweeters, amp, and sub installed. If you can find a shop that would be willing to do a system upgrade, it would be a very pricy upgrade as this would be a long and tedious task of rewiring an entire system and everything that system is connected to. In the long run, it would be more cost effective to buy a new vehicle with a stero you like, upgrade what you can, or live with it. Nissan really didn’t give people many options there.

Q: Do I need to change my automatic transmission fluid at 30,000 on my 2006 Nissan Murano?
I called two Nissan dealerships. One said yes and the other no, it is at 60,000. What should I do? Thanks!

A: Not every 30K miles, but definitely if it hasn’t been done since new. The technical answer is that the powertrain computer has some complex computing that it does to determine when the fluid needs to be changed. The Murano has the CVT transmission, which is a pricey piece of machinery. The fluid is also pricey, at a cost of about $20 per quart, available only at the dealership. At every oil change, or even every 15K miles is overkill. Maybe Hondas need to be serviced that much, but you have a Nissan.

Q: Does anyone know where I could find out a Nissan Murano pinout (radio) schematic?
I desperatly need the schematics for the nissan murano’s pinout (radio). I am currently in Australia and the US version I obtained is different to the Auzzy version. All resources are welcome.

A: www.ebay.com.au

Q: Any idea how to get my hands on a set of new or used 2009 Nissan Murano 20″ rims?
I am buying the SL version of the vehicle and you can only get the 18″ rims with it (here in Canada). To order them from the Nissan dealership would be very costly.

A: look on ebay or go look on nissan forums. theres bound to be plenty of them on there

Q: Who makes nissan murano backup cameras with depth peception guides? Can I get an aftermarket version?
I want to find find an after market back up camera with depth perceptions lines (like Nissans) for my Chrysler 300.

A: Pioneer makes a sweet camera. I have one on my xB.

Q: Would a nissan murano be a good first car?
I’m looking for my first car and wondering if i should go with that or a car. if so, which cars are cute and nicely ranged for a teenagers first car. and if the murano is a good choice, how does it drive? like a car or very sensitive like a bigger suv?

A: I use to sell nissan’s so trust me on this, the murano is a good vehicle, but cost more then it should and I personally don’t like the way it rides.

First you need to ask yourself some questions.
1st how long have you been driving?
2nd how much are you willing to spend on a vehicle? 3rd do you just need transporation from point a to point b?
4th do you plan on having all your friends and their mothers ride with you?
5th who is paying for the gas?
6th who is paying for the insurance?
7th what is the most important issue for you? reliablity, safety, looks

If you are just starting out get something you will not fall in love with.

Check out this great article and read about: Hyundai Accent!

Q: what are the sizes of engines that will fit in a 2000 hyundai accent gs?
I want to know what other size of engines that will fit into a 2000 hyundai accent gs other than the 1.5 liter.

A: There are probably a lot of choices BUT if you live in a State that has Emissions Testing, then changing the engine for a different/larger engine will cause the vehicle to fail the Emission Test. Also, your vehicle was built as an economy vehicle, so wanting to “soup it up ” may not be all that good of an idea………….I enjoy the 35 – 40 mpg I get with my 2002 Accent !!

Q: When should the gas light come on in a Hyundai Accent?
My 2003 Hyundai Accent only has a 11.9 gallon gas tank. The needle was very close the E, so I took it to fill it up. The gas light was not on. When it was done filling up, it took 10.257 gallons of gas, and probably could have taken more, the guy didnt tap it. Should I be concerned that the gas light didnt come on?

A: After working on Hyundai cars for 4yrs it’s amazing the number of people that were concerned about the low fuel gauge, pretend it does not exist.NEVER run the fuel tank low enough to turn it on,the only thing that lubricates the fuel pump is gas,run low on gas pump gets hot do this enough times pump fails pay 400to600$ to replace is an expensive lesson to learn,so it does not matter that it doesn’t come on.

Q: How much will it cost to re-paint my Hyundai Accent?
I drive a 2-door 2004 Hyundai Accent. It’s slightly smaller than a Honda Civic, for reference.

How much would it cost to re-paint the entire car at the average local shop or a Maaco? How much would it cost to just paint the front and rear bumper to match the car?

A: 1. Complete re-paint, same color, even on a small car, you are talking at least $2000 at a local body shop.

2. Maaco, why?? If this is the route you want, find a 6 yr old with a spray can, they will do better job.

3. Just bumpers, $350 a piece to re-paint, at least.

4. Call up used car lots and ask who they use for a touch up paint company. These guys do mobile work and can paint complete bumpers, normally WAY below a body shop price. They can take care of you (this is what I do), average bumper re-paint is $150-$200.

Q: How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?
1999 hyundai accent. 1.5 L. I realize its a big job no matter what. Im wondering how bad? Like do you deep to pull the motor? Or perhaps the front clip? Or maybe the passenger side fender. Im sure i can do the belt job. Just dont want to do more work than needed, like I dont want to fight with it all day just to find out I needed to pull the motor in the beginning. Thanks in advance

A: You don’t really have to pull the engine out. It is a SOHC engine and it doesn’t look that bad. It is a perfect engine to start with as a beginner. I started like everybody from scratch and now I know more than back then. I would advise you to either buy a technical manual for this car or get someone to supervise you (just in case) otherwise, should something come up you might be in for the whole day if not longer. The timing belt is located on the pass side towards the right front wheel. You have a lot of component to remove before you get to it including the engine mount. To remove the mount you have to somehow suspend the engine or support it on a jack (do not put the jack on the oil pan, find a solid point to support the power train). Also, it is important to mark the belt and line – up the top with the bottom of the engine. You have to find the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Lining-up the engine has to start from TDC point.

Overhaul, not an easy job but at the same token its something that could be accomplished (with a little supervision).

Good luck and have fun.

Q: How would I go about getting a manual transmission installed into my Hyundai Accent?
I have a ‘03 Hyundai Accent with an automatic transmission, and I was hoping to know what steps would be required to make the switch.

A: Jack up the radiator cap and put a car with manual transmission already in it.

Q: Where is the emergency trunk release on my 98 Hyundai Accent?
I bought a car that has the handle of the hatch broken off. I want to release the trunk and was told there may be a trunk release somewhere on the car. Anyone know where that may be? I need to replace the tail light housing!

It’s a 1998 Hyundai Accent, base model.

A: Check with the dealer

My 2001 model has got a release lever below the driver’s seat

Trace where the release cable goes, you may be able to pull this cable to unlatch the trunk hatch (you may need a Vehicle Mechanic)

Q: what type of gas does a 2007 hyundai accent use?
I just got a 2007 hyundai accent yesterday and i wanted to know what type of gas does it use.
Also should i use ethanol?

A: 10% ethanol is O.K.

Regular (non-ethanol), gives better gas mileage .

Q: Are there any interchangeable transmissions for 2002 hyundai accent?
The transmission for my 2002 hyundai accent (manual /1.5 L/ SOHC) went out and I’ve been checking Auto-junk yards but no luck. Are there other hyundai’s with a compatible transmission?

A: LUKE. I can’t see from your profile where you’re from. In Canada you can find a transmission at junk yards for about 400-600 CAD, depending on mileage. I can give you some websites or phone numbers, should you be interested.

Q: Is a 2005 Hyundai Accent a good first car for a new college student?
I am buying my first car and I found a really affordable 2005 Hyundai Accent. I believe it has been in a minor wreck and it has been used. Other than that it seems to be a fine car. I was wondering if I would be worth my money to buy the car and if it would last me for at least 5 years, preferably longer.

A: they’re pretty good cars. especially for a college student. not too much will go wrong and if it does wont be too expensive. parts are fairly cheap.

depends on how many miles it has. and how much it is.

if it has under 50K miles, it’s pretty good. i wouldnt pay more then about hmmm 6 – 7 thousand for it. if its close to 100Kmiles on the car. not a very good idea. would still last you a few years. but you might have some problems

Q: What do you guys think about buying a Used Hyundai Accent?
Hi guys I was planning on buying a used honda civic, but am on tight budget so I am thinking about hyundai Accent now…what do you guys think about it, in terms of dependability and fuel efficiency and performance.

A: well it will get good mpg….other than that
they say if you can’t say somthing nice , say nothing at all !……

Q: What would be the mileage for an Hyundai Accent petrol car available in the Indian market now?
Your suggestions / imputs (pros & cons) for buying a Hyundai Accent?

A: on indian roads it won’t give more than 20 per litre as u know that we are always stuck in jams.i would rather recommend u to buy any car launched by maruti.

Q: How do I change the clock on my 2002 Hyundai Accent?
I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent with a clock in the cd player. I can’t find out how to change the time on it, and I haven’t been able to find any answers on the internet. I’ve searched, and I can’t even find a picture of the same cd player that I have. Mine says Hyundai on the top left above the slot for cds and has the numbers 5064 next to the button marked DISP

It’s display is in the middle of the unit, and it’s has the channel buttons 1-6 on the right of the display. on buttons 4 and 5, it says +d and -d. It has a button marked loud and a button marked loc directly above the display. In the top left corner it has the eject button for the cd and a button marked BAND and a button marked BSM. It’s volume button also controls bass and balance and so forth. Any help would be appreciated.

A: See a dealer.

Q: My 2002 Hyundai accent outside door handle broke and my child lock was on,how do i open it?
My hyundai accent outside door handle broke and child lock was on. It dosent open from the inside or outside. This happend to both back doors(4 door)….please help anybody!
My child lock is manual. How do i open the door panel with the door closed.

A: i think u cant take it off if the door is closed, impossible,, u have to do some cutting, thats what i would do, get new door panels and door handles.. =)

Q: What are some common problems with the Hyundai Accent?
I’m about to get a 2008 Hyundai Accent. Is their any common problems with the Accent that I should know about, or anything I should maintain more than normal? Anything you could tell me would be useful. Seat belt problems, wiring, engine, power steering, tail lights, trunk, wipers, door hinges, CD player, just anything I should know. Anything positive would be useful as well.

A: I have an 05 Accent, after 53K mi. it still gets 38mpg highway
The only thing I find as a negative about the car is that any time you remove pressure from the accelerator, it slows rapidly. On the highway at 70mph, if you remove the slightest pressure you will suddenly be going 55; in the city at 35mph, you will suddenly be going 25 if you move your foot at all. But this is how it is able to get such good gas mileage.

Q: Where is the Throttle Position Sensor on the 2003 hyundai accent?
I need your help Locating the Throttle Position Sensor on the 2003 hyundai accent.

A: Its on the Throttle Body, right beside the air intake hose coming from air filter, facing the fire wall side.

Check out this great article and read about: Mercedes-Benz E-Class!

Q: My Dad wants to buy a 2010 Mercedes Benz E class. Would he be able to get it for 40k?
He wants the Mercedes Benz E 350 luxury edition for 40k. So far he has not got it. They lowest he got was 44k, is that a good deal. Should he take it. Will he be able to get it for 40k? It has package 1.

A: LOL There is no way in hell your dad will ever score a deal on a 2010 E350 for $40,000, if its a brand new E-class. If its a certified Pre-owned 2010 E350 then yes he might be able to make a deal depending on the value of the car and packages equipped in the E-class, mileage is diffinetly a contributing factor to the price of a car aswell. The basic model of an E350 starts at $48,050 and a 2011 E350 is now priced at $49,400. This is an example of a Pre-owned 2010 Mercedes E350 being sold for $42,995 equipped 18,867 miles, this car is fairly equipped with the Navigation System aswell. I assume your dad is buying a preowned E-class considering the fact 2010 E-class models are no longer being sold at Mercedes dealers as they now have a new shipment of 2011 Mercedes E-class sedans to sell. Some Mercedes Dealer might still have some left over 2010 E-class sedans for sale on thier lots, the prices of the 2010 models usually go down after the 2011 models arrive.

(Some 2010 E-class sedan for sale)

Q: Question about Mercedes Benz E-Class??! Please read and answer to the best of your knowledge!?
http://www.carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/2002_Mercedes-Benz_E+Class_112788655_54

Its a 2002. It has 137000 miles on it. But alot of ppl have been saying that 137000 miles for a benz is not alot. Sounds like a very high # to me but I dont know much about cars, etc.
I do know I have a 7 month old child..so with the high mileage..I dont want it to go bad on me in the near future!
going to take a look at it next week…is it worth it..is that mileage to high or not?

A: every European car were made to be at least 150,000 miles. its all depend on the previous owner, you can check that with carfax whether the last owner are likely to service the car or not. and be sure to check the carfax to see if the car have ever been into accident. salvage car are more likely to have alot problem in high miles..
with that high miles, im sure you gonna need to service the car often, since the component in the car might need to be replaced due to the high miles. try to ask the dealer when the last time they service this vehicle.

as long as the car is not salvage and been service on time, there should be no worry.
here is an example Mercedes E class 1999 with 248,600 miles!! o_O

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=271005795&dealer_id=71211&car_year=1997&rdm=1271797653494&lastStartYear=1981&model=E320&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=100&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=y&make=MB&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceASC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=45373&advanced=y&end_year=2011&doors=&transmission=&max_price=10000&cardist=84&standard=false

Q: Mercedes Benz 1996 e class battery? Where the heck is it!?!?
We have a mercedes benz from 1996 e class. Under the hood it says that it is under the rear seat. Guess what, no luck. We got under the seat, under the car, into the trunk but no luck. Anybody know?

A: The W210 E-Class (‘96-’02) does indeed have the battery under the rear seat. You have to unclip the rear seat bench and it’s under the seat on the right/passenger side.

Q: I’ve got a mercedes-benz 2.2 E-Class(2001) and I was told that right drive shaft is gone. How do you now that?
And if is gone how mach will cost to by and fix it?
When brake it shaks on right side.
And the stering shakes to.

A: The shaft will make noise its a common part to fail. Not sure about how much in the US about $500 for the part and maybe $100 or so to install. If it is bad it would cause the car to shake as it will not be turning smooth.

Q: Which do you prefer? The New or Old Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
I just want to know your opinions, I’m not buying this car anyways. Do you like the grand and luxurious 2008 E-Class or a more sporty 2009 E-Class?

A: 99% of new car models are better than the old ones, and this is no exception.

Q: Which would you buy an 06 mercedes benz e class or an 06 bmw 7 series?

A: absolutely without a question the 7. However I dont like either that much b/c they are ugly. I really like the bmw 5.

Q: Can I maintain a Mercedes Benz, the E Class?
Can I maintain a Mercedes Benz, the E Class?
I am disabled and I do not have a job. I receive SSI benefit, so I do have a little money to spend.

I have been saving my money that I receive monthly from SSI for the past few years, and I finally reached 20K.

My mother promises to give me 10K towards my car. That would be 30K in total. I am not buying a car because I need to get to point a to point b. I am buying a car because I like it and want it to be my favorite toy. So, I am deciding to buy a 2005 to 2006 Mercedes Benz, the E Class. They’re a few selling for 22,000,00 to 25,000,00K

I will be buying the car cash so I won’t have to pay car payments.

All I get from SSI is $400 a month. Do you feel I can manage it? And how much should I expect to pay for car insurance each month?

A: No. Especially of you’re purchasing a Mercedes.
Their warranty is 3 years/50,000 miles. Then you’re on your own.

You’ll have to get a service every 3 months and it’s $600.00-$1,500. Gas mileage on these luxury sedans are quite poor. I don’t reccomend you purchasing one. Maybe wait a couple of years and purchase a BMW 1 series.

Q: what is the song playing on Mercedes Benz E class tv ad, where a toddler buried an E class scale model?

A: umm dude im pretty sure u mean this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Rkmw5Rr5o and its an clk class btw…

Q: 2009 Mercedes Benz E class?
Anyone know how much the 2009 E class is going to be when it comes out? It looks awsome i cant wait!!!

A: $ 85000.00

Q: When is mercedes benz changing the E class design?

A: The next-generation E-Class will arrive for the 2010 model year, with the estate version (codenamed S212) expected for 2011. Although not much information has been offered in regards to the upcoming fifth-generation E Class, sources are speculating an increase of around 20 mm in length. That, combined with a redesigned interior, will offer a more spacious feel to the passenger compartment.

An all-new instrument cluster, along with S-Class night-vision technology and an updated COMAND system will highlight the interior changes.

Power-wise, it looks as if the full-range of Mercedes engines will be available, in diesel and petrol variants, although there may be limits in developing markets. The basic powerplant will consist of four-cylinder engines with the horsepower rating starting at 175 bhp, followed by 6 and 8 Cylinders and the performance-built AMG variant.

Q: Audi S4 vs Mercedes Benz E class?
Hi so my parents have been thinking of getting a new car our family of 4 people…

We’ve narrowed down our choices to 2.

An Audi S4 and a MB E Class

Which of those 2 would be best for a family of 4 people? The youngest person is my 10 year old brother, so it isnt really little kids in the car.

So which car is more reliable? More comfortable?
That sort of thing.

Thanks

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Does anyone know where I can hear/download the music from the Mercedes Benz E-class commercial?
Basically the one talking about how it has history and stuff. The tune is very omnious and mysterious.
You can see it hear —->

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHwNLQdBz9I

A: You could probably find it on Mercedes forums, a lot of people ask these questions, and someone on those sites usually knows.

Q: out of theese two cars which is better?(Mercedes Benz E class 2009)?
http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/#/classLanding/?vc=E
sorry its actually eclass 2010

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.imess.net

Q: did mercedes benz e class w210 have a facelift?

A: Yes it did, in fact several things were retouched which include:
- Headlamp shapes…ovals became more oval
- Side repeater turn indicators were moved up to the tip of the side mirrors, then place from the root to the tip of the side mirrors.
- Trimmings on the side of the car (bumper strips).
- In recent models, some brake lamps (stop lights) had their filament bulb replaced with numerous Light Emitting Diodes (LED).
- Exterior contours had more curves (like a lady’s body) and less angles (like a man’s body).

On the inside, several things also got facelifting, I can’t remeber all, though my favorite dissapointment is that of the mirror and window swtiches being moved away from the gear lever area to the driver’s door (I steer with my left hand only)…this left my right hand extremely bored and the interior looking so Japaneezy (Japs keep window/mirror swtiches on driver’s door).

Q: Mercedes Benz E-Class VS BMW 5 Series VS AUDI A6?
This is for my dad’s 60th birthday.. i dont know what to buy for him, he said he wants a car that has good interior lighting, bright gauges ( like the honda civic ) and the best luxury features

A: Audi is always known for its amazing red lighting. I do not like the styling of the Audi, it seems to have a cheap look to it. The Mercedes Benz shows that you are getting old. It just has that look that an older person would be driving it, it really does not have anything unique about it other than being luxurious. I would go for the 5-Series because of its super comfortable seats. It is the most agile, safest, and most unique and the quietest ride. This car will bring back his youth. It is a perfect mix of performance and luxury. If you are buying this, a way to save you money, just as an option is to look at the Infiniti M. It does not compare to a 5-Series but it has a great interior and am amazing ride. Good Luck.

Q: Anyone know what the flashing red light next to cd player on buick lacrosse might mean?

A: This lamp is a single led.It should only flash with the key in the off position. This lamp is part of the anti-theft system of the radio. Its there to tell anyone that steals the radio it will not work after removed.

Q: The Toyota Camry is the best selling car in America and the GM Buick Lacrosse is the best selling car in China?
(continued)

Why do American people like Japanese cars and Chinese people like American cars?

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/01/06/206830.html

http://www.automedia.com/2010_Buick_LaCrosse_Preview/rts20090101bl/1

A: That goes to show you that the Chinese have better taste than the Americans.

Q: Will 22 inch rims Fit on a Buick Lacrosse?
Im thinking about purchasing some 22’s and i wanna know if there is any special tires to make 22’s fit

A: no, 22’s will fit, but not correctly, you may need to adjust your spedometer, and lift the car a couple of inches,I have 20’s on my impala, and my gps says I am going faster than my spedometer is saying, just a couple of miles though, but I had to lift the rear about an inch because three fat men as passengers would reack havok!
lol
Good luck

Q: What are the pros and cons of the Buick lacrosse?
Im thinking about buying one…

A: If you google least stolen car, it will show up. Go to edmunds.com for owner comments.

Q: New brakes on a 05 buick lacrosse cxl?
My car is currently at tires plus for new brakes, and rotors, and oil change. They called and gave me an estimate of 791. I need all 4 rotors replaced, and new brake/pads on the front only. Also they said I needed a fluid flush and cleaned the lines out. Am I getting ripped off?

A: The charges are probably in line for the work being done, but I question replacing the rear brake rotors without replacing the pads at the same time. New rotors work best and last longest with new brake pads. Also, the brake fluid flush is probably not absolutely necessary, but that’s most likely the smallest charge on the bill.

Q: Do you recommend a 2010 Buick LaCrosse?
The main concern is safety and quality. Is it an issue that the 2010 model year is being produced in a different factory and with a different platform than in previous years?

A: The LaCrosse is being built in Kansas City so quality is their #1 concern. They are not making this car is mass quantities b/c they are so anal about the quality. Just last month they stopped production when a certain standard was not achieved. Many other car makers would simply issue a TSB or recall their cars, not Buick. I wanted a new LaCrosse CXS badly, but sadly my income would not justify it. I ended up getting a Malibu LTZ w the V6. Actually, I have the same 3.6L used in the LaCrosse CXS so I’m happy. But I saved $8K by going that route. Anyway, yes the LaCrosse is a sweet car. Trim level is everything. They should be doing it now, but a new 2.4L direct inject 4 cyl is avalible for the CX trim. It makes 184hp vs. the 166hp in the Malibu & it still gets 33 mpg. Not bad. The 3.0L is new, but so far it’s ben a successful engine. They are using the same engine in the new Equinox/Terrain with great results & satisfaction. If you have the cash, get the LaCrosse. I like it & so will you.

Q: I need to know where the power steering reservoir is located on a 2006 buick lacrosse?

A: it should be right next to the power steering hydraulic pump, which is somewhere on the belt drive.

Q: Can I fit 22’s on my 2006 Buick LaCrosse CXL?
I Saw a 2006 Buick LaCrosse on Cardomain with 22’s

A: Why would you?

Q: In regarding the 2010 buick lacrosse
Hi, I saw some spy shots on the new upcoming buick lacrosse and it seems it’s going to look almost like a lexus or the lexus is 250, is this true? and also I was wondering when the realease date will be also or any websites I can go on to find more information thanks.

A: You can fine some good info on this site for up comeing buick models.Best of luck.http://www.topspeed.com/cars/buick-lacrosse/ke1790.html

Q: my 2006 buick lacrosse is starting to jerk when I take off…like pressing on gas after I sit at a light. ?
what’s wrong with my car…I get regular maintenance service.

A: Does that regular service include your transmission?
Have your mechanic check your transmission fluid. It’s either low or burnt. Low most likely means a leak, burnt means you need work.

Q: My ‘05 Buick Lacrosse is making a strange noise. Everytime you accelerate you hear water moving . What is it

A: I’m doing this from memory as I’m out of the know anymore ,but it seems I remember something about GM had problems with the noise you are describing is the water rushing threw the heater core when you accelerate. I don’t remember the years or models but yours may be one. I believe the fix was to put a small restricter in the heater hose. Call your local Buick or GM dealer and ask about this problem and see if yours is one with the problem. And also how to fix it or get it fixed. Hope this at least gives you an idea and helps you…..ujn

Q: Buick Lacrosse and Lexus ES?
Ok, sorry but im a huge car fan and need to ask a question. The new buick lacrosse, at least i think, is a COMPLETE copy of the lexus ES. in the commercials, the cars interiors are identical, except the lexus came out a while ago. Any opinions?

A: Although the Lacrosse is a really great looking car, I would buy the Lexus because it will inevitably have better resale value.

Q: 2010 buick lacrosse price?
Now I don’t know how many of you know the new price for the new 2010 buick lacrosse. What I would like to know is will it be the same as it is now? or will it go up. Because I do like the car and it’s top on my list. I can buy the 2009 for as cheap as $29,450 here in canada and would be upset if that price will go up. Any accurate news about this that I can find?

A: http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2010-buick-lacrosse.htm

the answer to your question can be found under the second picture of the car on the page

Q: 2005 Buick Lacrosse or 2004 Dodge Intrepid?
I can’t afford either (Especially not the Buick), but I’d just like to know which is “better.”
And for the rude people who are telling me to go find out for myself: What do you think I’m doing? How do you think I got down to just two cars?

A: Buick by far, especially if its the 3800 v6. the intrepids are KNOWN by all to develop a fatal knock at or before 100,000. even when babied.

Q: How much does it cost to replace a 97 ford explorer driver side mirror?
my passenger side mirror on my ford explorer was stolen, how much would it be to replace? Installation included. They are power mirrors

A: Around $100 for a new one. You can put it on yourself.

Q: How much does it cost to replace a 97 ford explorer driver side mirror?
my passenger side mirror on my ford explorer was stolen, how much would it be to replace? Installation included. Their power mirrors

A: Go to a junk yard you’ll get it there for 40 bucks at the most but you have to put it on yourself unles you want to take it to a garage

Q: what is the life expectancy of a ford explorer?
we have the opportunity to get a free ford explorer, 10 years old/100,000 miles. do ford exlporers last a while, how are they on maintenence when they are this old?
the explorer would be a secondary car. right now our secondary car is a 96 toyota tercel with 170,000 miles on it. guess the main thing i want to know is, would it be better for us to keep the toyota for a secondary car or the explorer?

A: A car will last as long as you will let it. If you change the oil on time and make sure easy things like the timing belt, filter, tires etc are all in good shape, then it should run just fine. Gas won’t be as good as your Tercel, but that’s expected obviously with more capabilities and a bigger engine.

Mine’s a ‘99 with 67,000 miles (YES I know, hardly broken in!) and the only problems that it has ever needed to be taken to the shop for was a bad thermostat and a multifunction switch, which neither were cheap but when it comes to car repairs they are one of the cheaper repairs.

Q: How much would it cost to get a rod fixed on a 97 Ford Explorer?
I believe a rod blew out of my 97 ford explorer, about how much would it cost to have it replaced?

A: More than the vehicle is worth. It would be less expensive to replace the engine with a short block than it would be to rebuild your engine.
You are looking at more than 2k

Q: Are there ways to make a Ford Explorer more fuel efficient?
I’m doing a cross-country drive with two people this summer and we’re taking my friend’s Ford Explorer (a 96). I know gas is going to be ridiculous, and I was hoping that there are a few ways to increase the fuel efficiency so we only go partially broke.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

A: Keep the tires inflated to the max pressure indicated on the tire. Make sure your air filter is clean, spark plugs are fairly new, and change the oil (just good practice anyway). Use cruise control when safe to do so, and keep it under 70. Accelerate gradually. If it’s hot, keep the windows closed and run the a/c, it’s more efficient than having the extra wind resistance of the windows open. I have a ‘99 Explorer with the 4.0 V6 and average 21mpg with my daily drive of 25 miles each way to work, though there are very few stops and a 55mph limit on my route. Good luck.

Q: Why is there a shortage of Ford Explorer radiators?
We have a 2006 Ford Explorer(AKA Junk) that has a leaking radiator and the deler can not find one anywhere. They tell me that they are on back order as much as 5000+.

A: Call —1-800-RADIATOR… They will have one of those …it will be aftermarket but has a good warranty…and will fit properly..
Or try this link—>>http://www.1800radiator.com/index.htm

Q: I have a 1998 ford explorer sport. I need to replace the rear sub woofer speaker?
I have a 1998 ford explorer sport. I need to replace the rear sub woofer speaker?

Does anybody know what size it is and perhaps the best replacement? I spoke to ford on the phone and they tell me they have no idea.

A: i would have to say youre screwed i think your best bet would be to check in to mtx thunderforms or jl audio stealthboxes for replacement otherwise if you want to remain factory pull it out take it in to the dealership and have the model/part number searched good luck hope this helps

Q: What makes nissan pathfinder better than ford explorer?
Looking to buy one or the other, a 1996 through 2000, people tell me nissan pathfinder is better, want to know why these models are better than the ford explorer.

A: The Nissan is better because:

-more reliable
-holds its value better
-put together better – higher quality materials
-better motor, unless the Ford has a V8
-better looks
-better off road if needed – better handler on road
-the whole Firestone Fiasco w/ Explorers

To be fair, the Ford has some advantages:

-cheaper to repair
-plenty of parts
-same model year cheaper vs pathfinder
-better straight line/highway ride
-roomier
-V8 offered
-more towing capacity

Q: How do you get the subwoofer out on a 1998 ford explorer?
How do you get the subwoofer out on a 1998 ford explorer?

It’s in the factory installed spot in the rear quarter panel, and I took out all the screws and even ripped apart the entire speaker, but yet something is holding in on in the rear, and I can’t get to it. Has anybody else had this problem? Do I need to take apart the entire interior just to reach it?

A: unplug the wires.

Q: How do I get the front panel off my 2000 Ford Explorer to replace the speaker?
The speaker in the passenger door of my 2000 Ford Explorer xlt has blown. I can’t seem to find any way to get either the panel or the mesh grill over the speaker off.

A: The entire door panel comes off; you can’t just remove the mesh. Look for screws behind the door pull handle. There may also be a removable panel behind the door release lever, with a screw underneath.

If you’ve found and removed all the screws, the trick is that the door panel needs to be lifted straight up to remove it from the door. Don’t try prying it away or you’ll break the tabs.

Q: How do you replace the center console of a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT?
I just bought a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT and I want to know how to replace the center console. On the back of the console, it has a control center to control the radio and the air. Is it going to be hard to replace? Do you just unscrew it, or do you pull it out? Please help!

A: im not really sure on the 2000 explorer but i know with my 94 explorer when i take apart anything all i have to do is take out all the screws, you should be able to take some of the parts out (change holder and such), when you get to the electronic parts there shopuld be enough room to push the controls through. some of them have a clip that you can lift and it can come out as one. my only other advice would be to go to a part store and pick up a Haynes manual, they run about $15. hope this helps

Q: Is it possible to install automatic headlights in a 2004 Ford Explorer?
I just purchased a used 2004 Ford Explorer, and I noticed that it does not have automatic headlights, but the manual shows that it is an option. Is it possible to install this later? It would help me greatly. Thanks in advance!

A: An after-market relay is available. Check with Ford if you can upgrade with factory parts; then go to AutoZone or O’Reilley.see if they can get.

Q: What are some adjustments I can make to the engine of my 1997 Ford Explorer?
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer 5.0L V8 AWD. I want to make some adjustments to the engine to increase the power and horse power. I have heard of something the explorer has that is used in the mustang but the mustang one you have to buy and for the explorer, its already in there. I want an inexpensive way to increase horsepower and i Know i can for this car, but how? Thanks!

A: here are the simple and easiest improvement for your 5.0, first K&N air filter, more HP? go w/ K&N air induction, now you are breathing better, next get rid of the waste(exhaust) X pipe or dual exhaust, also dump the cats if your state does not require emission testing, then any high flow muffler, then the next step burn all that new fuel completely, larger plug wires, brass/copper distributor cap and a hotter coil (msd), the last thing would be a power chip for the computer, these are my simple mods i offer all the time!!

Q: headlights on my ford explorer sport 1998 wont work unless i hold the high beam down what could that be?
got a ford explorer today that i traded for…i have to hold my blinker button so that my high beams are on but my lows wont work what could that be besides a fuse?

A: Sound like it is your switch in your column.

Q: What kind of stereo can i get for my 1997 Ford Explorer?
I don’t like my current stock in-dash stereo. I want to upgrade, but I have no idea wheere to begin. The slot where it fits seems much larger than the size of the stereos i see when i look for some online. Is there a compatibility number i can use to search with? Can anyone recommend a good product for my ‘97 Ford Explorer, or even a good website to buy one. Please don’t just leave a website, please only respond if you can answer my original question. Thank You!

A: you can get any stereo. Custom stereos all are smaller, so they fit. With all of them, you have to get an installation mounting kit thing and wireing harness also. It’s not as complicated as it sounds. You can get these things at Walmart and many other places.

Q: What is the best motor oil for a 96 Ford Taurus?
We have been running 30 weight oil (Pennzoil). But I’m wondering if this is the best oil for the motor?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Again, this is for a 1996 Ford Taurus GL, 6cyl, automatic. It has about 100k miles on it.

A: well pennzoil is the best out there but try switching to pennzoil ultimate synthetic and stick with it. it cleans and protects your engine. and use 89 octane better fuel = better running car

Q: How much will it cost to replace the Cat converter in a Ford Taurus?
How much will it cost to replace the Cat converter in a 2001 Ford Taurus. Parts and labor?

A: About $750.00

Q: What’s the possibility that the air conditioner on my 92 ford taurus will work?
The thing is that the condenser is broken and I have to replace it and put frion on it, I just wanted to know what would be the chances of the air conditioning on my 92 Ford Taurus working if I DO replace the condenser on it and put frion?

A: If the system was recently working fine before the leak (within a few weeks) your odds are good. However the longer it is exposed to moisture and not functioning moisture can take its toll. If it has been down for sometime then I would replace most of the O-rings if able and flush the system. Good luck!!!

Q: What should it cost to replace a Camshaft Synchronizer in a 2002 Ford Taurus?
The car is a Ford Taurus with a V6 3.1 litre flex fuel engine. I have just moved and I dont have a mechanic yet and I feel like the two places I took it were high. One place estimated it at $500 and the other at $425. Are these in line? The part can be bought for $50…..is there really that much labor involved? Thanks for help in advance!

A: $50? Yep..found it… aftermarket online.. Most local auto parts places will tell you it’s a dealer only item.. and send you for the $100 one from motorcraft.

The syncro is roughly $125 If I remember…. sensor is about $60.. hour for diagnosis (say $75/Hour) and about a hour and a half to replace and time it correct (so total of 2 1/2 hours)

Yep about the $410 or so quoted if I figure it correctly…. before taxes..

I may be wrong on some of these prices but check with the local Ford dealer for more accurate times and prices….

And BTW… the sensor is under a wiring harness, that is blocked by the throttle body… this syncro attaches with a rod to your oil pump and when it comes out, is roughly 2 feet long (if the rod comes out).. It also involves setting the vehicle engine in one special place to time correctly.. if not, can cause fuel economy errors and check engine lights.

Q: how much should it cost to get cosmetic repairs done on a Ford Taurus?
I have a very ugly ‘96 Ford Taurus I am trying to sell. I want to get bunch of dents (2 bigger dents and a half-dozen small dents) fixed and also paint it. How much do you think it should cost (ballpark) to get this done? Any estimate would be appreciated.
ALSO what color should I have it painted? Like what is the most popular color for this size/style of car?

A: http://www.maaco.com

Q: What are the best headlights in terms of visibility for a 1994 Ford Taurus?
I need some new head lights, mine are really dim.

Car Make 1994 Ford Taurus, what are the best head lights I can get in terms of view-ability and radius of the road they cover?

I’ve heard the blue ones are just for color effects, which ones actually make the road at night the safest?

A: they cal it H.I.D KIT 6000k do not get any more than 6000k then it well become illegal , every car i buy i have to get it a kit for it oh god it makes a huge different a night time they go for $ 130 – $ 180 depending on the brand i like phillips made in germany 2 years warranty really good stuff

Q: How do I find the settings for the headlights of a 2005 ford taurus se?
I just bought a 2005 ford Taurus se and I asssumed that once I turn off the car the lights will go off but instead I have to turn the knob to the left of the steering wheel to turn them off, otherwise they’ll stay on, is there an automatic headlight? How do I use it or turn it on?

A: Autolamp control (if equipped)
The autolamp system provides light
sensitive automatic on-off control of
the exterior lights normally
controlled by the headlamp control.
The autolamp system also keeps the
lights on for a fixed period of time
after the ignition switch is turned to OFF.

To turn autolamps on, rotate the control counterclockwise.
To turn autolamps off, rotate the control clockwise to OFF.

Q: Where is the oil pressure switch on a 1993 Ford Taurus?
I have a 1993 Ford Taurus 3.8L. I need to replace the oil pressure switch but can’t find it.

Can someone please tell me where it is. If you have a picture that would be even better. Thanks.

A: oil pressure switch is right above the oil filter on the 3.8l engine, its not easy to get at but it can be done, the 3.8l has an external oil pump and the switch is on the body of the pump, can be scene behind the p/s pump and above the a/c pump

Q: Replacing the stereo in a 1993 Ford Taurus. Is is possible to preserve the use of the dash board buttons?
The 1993 Ford Taurus has volume, seek and scan buttons within easy drivers reach on the dashboard. If I replace the stereo with an aftermarket stereo is it possible to preserve the functionality of those buttons. Many thanks for any advice!

A: All you’ll need to purchase is a steering wheel interface that is specific to the radio you’d be purchasing. Example, you’re going to buy a Kenwood deck. You’ll then need a steering wheel interface that works with Kenwood. I will mention, the interface normally runs around $100.

Q: Is it necessary to change transmission fluid in a 2002 ford taurus with 63k miles?
My husband has a 2002 Ford Taurus which seems to be in perfect working condition. HIs dad for some reason told him he should get the transmission fluid changed someday and of course ran out and made an appt to get it done this week (200 bucks!! Jeesh). Neither of us know anything about cars and maintenance… does this seem necessary to do? Our extended warranty runs out next month and want to get as much done as possible. Thanks for any input!

A: Yes, automatic transmission fluid needs to be changed occasionally. look in the manual and it will tell you how often.

Q: How do I Install a CD player into my 99 ford Taurus?
I Just Bought a 99 ford Taurus and it has the factory am/fm radio in it, which only plays tapes! What things would i need to install a cd player. Please list everything i need. And if you know where i could get everything, Please tell.

A: you need a deck.
a plug for the factory wiring harness(unless you just want to snip wires)
an install kit for the dash
i just did the same thing in my buick regal and it was pretty simple
you should be able to find the install kit and plug at walmart. the plug cost me $8 and the kit was $12. so for $20 you can buy whats needed to install the deck. now you just need to buy the deck.
good luck

Q: 1998 Ford Taurus acts like it wants to shut off a red light. What is the cause?
My 1998 Ford Taurus acts like it wants to shut off at a red light but it doesn’t. What could be the cause of this?

A: The air filter might be extremely dirty so its starving for air. Same thing happened to my truck, except that it would die, so i replaced the air filter and it hasn’t done it since.

Q: 1997 Ford Taurus Pulls to right under acceleration?
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL and it pulls to the right when I accelerate. I recently had it aligned. This has been an ongoing issue and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. So far I have heard that it may be a wheel bearing getting ready to go, tie rod end, and struts.

A: is it front wheel drive? if so it could be cv joints or shafts that are going bad.

Q: why does the heater on my 93 ford taurus only work when im going 45mph or faster?
i have a 93′ ford taurus and the heater only works when im going 45mph or faster.it has a new thermostat, what eles could it be?

A: When there is little or no hot air blowing from your vents, the four most common problems are:

1. Low coolant level – Remove your radiator cap and check your coolant level. If the level is low, there is not enough coolant entering the heater core to make it heat up.

2. Clogged heater core – Remove your radiator cap and take a look at the condition of the coolant. If the coolant is not a bright green color or if you see a mud like substance in your radiator or in your overflow tank, than your heater core is clogged.

3. Wrong thermostat or defective thermostat – This is rare but you may have a defective thermostat or even have installed the incorrect one.

4. Air in the cooling system. Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system after you replaced the thermostat? If not, there are probably some air pockets in the system that need to be bled out.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Q: Is it to late to put synthetic oil in a 2005 Ford Taurus?
I just recently bought a used car. 2005 Ford Taurus with 65,000 Miles. Should I consider using synthetic oil to make sure my car lasts long?

A: It’s never too late. The main benefit to synthetic however, is extended oil change intervals. I suggest using an engine flush at your next change.

Q: What is the clicking sound on my 2008 Toyota Highlander?
I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Every time I accelerate or press the brakes I hear some “click” especially when the hybrid system goes from on to off. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

A: Bring it to a dealer right away. THese vehicles are death traps and are unsafe. They are not engineered well, not built well, and Consumer reports and JD Power has us all brainwashed that these are good vehicles. The media is has a price and toyota paid it. THIS IS A FACT

Q: The Toyota Highlander – how well does it handle heavy rain and snow?
I know the Toyota Forerunner does (I used to own one but it’s too expensive to buy now). I am turning in my Mercedes SUV – had it for 3 years and it’s just terrible in heavy rain and does not handle well at all under extreme weather conditions. Let me know how you think the Highlander will do?

A: highlander just does ok they are not great in heavy snow they do alright in light but in heavy snow they just slide and for rain as long as you are not driving too fast you should be fine. if you want a toyota i would get another forerunner or landcrusier, even if you have to wait another year to buy it it will be worth it to get the better vehicle

Q: how do i check the engine diagnostics on a 2002 toyota highlander?
i also have a 1990 toyota pickup where i can stick a pair of pliars in the diagnostic port and it flashes the check light so many times. i was wondering if i could do the same thing to the highlander and where i would put the pliars.

A: All cars 1996 and newer require the use of an OBD2 (on board diagnostics) scan tool to retrieve engine codes. Most chain parts store like Advance Auto, O’reilly Auto and Autozone will scan it for free.

Q: Purchase a Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander?
Would you purchase a 2004 Toyota Highlander (240km, good condition) that would be financially benefical with no loans, etc…… or a 2007 Honda Pilot (75km, good condition) that would require a car loan and some financial burden long term?

Some people think the Highlander will last at least another 4 years – 350km? I only use the car to bring children to school and their activities and to my work which is less than 10km.

Would love some advice! Thanks!

A: My 01 Highlander has 244,000 Miles on it. I’m going to drive it until the wheels fall off. They are some of the best vehicles out there. Go for the highlander, no payments, no interest, no financial burdens.

Q: Which Toyota Highlander do you recommend we purchase?
A 2008 Toyota Highlander Limited with 11,000 miles on it. It is Certified pre-owned Toyota with warranty and in mint condition.
A 2009 Toyota Highlander Limited new (200 miles on it) for $3500 more. The two cars are virtually the same in every way (for specs, features, etc.), just wondering whether it is worth $3500 more (over the course of the loan period) to buy a brand new car. Thanks for helping!

A: Get the certified 2008 for $3500 less. In real costs, it is actually going to end up saving you more than that because the certified vehicle comes with a much better warranty.

No brainer – go with the 2008 with 11K miles.

Q: Is the Toyota Highlander equally as strong as the Toyota Camry?
The Toyota Camry and Toyota Highlander both have a 3.5L V6 Engine.

Does this mean that they are just as strong? or perform equally as well?

Thanks.

A: They do share the same platform or frame, so essentially they are “the same car with different bodies”. However, they can’t be directly compared for strength or performance. An SUV performs different than a car, even when that SUV is built on that car’s platform. The SUV has a higher ground clearance and is taller than the car’ but it actually has less cargo space than the car. It gets lower fuel economy, but it has slightly higher horsepower. You also get a higher towing capacity with the Highlander. So to compare performance, you have to identify what parameters you are wanting to compare and define what indicates the performance for that parameter as to good.

http://www.toyota.com/compare/?modelCode=camry#h_overview

Q: upgrade the audio on a new 09 toyota highlander?
I just bought a brand new 09 highlander, and no i didnt get the audio package, should have, but we didnt =(. if i go after market…can i still keep the appearance of the stock radio? or do i have to get those flashy head units?? Or should i just call up toyota and see if they can swing me a decent deal??
make it louder and more crisp. if i have it on half way the sound gets destorted and its not loud at all!

A: Well it depends, what are you looking for, appearance or more power,if your looking for louder more clear speakers you can change them without changing your radio, just inquire on the speaker size in front and in back, theyre usually pretty easy to change(ps go for jbl speakers they have crystal clear sound and have descent pricing, dont touch sony!!.

Q: How hard is it to change the head gasket on a 2004 Toyota Highlander (4 cyl, 2wd)?
I’ve changed my oil, and changed the exhaust system on a Harley I had, but that’s the extent of my mechanical experience. I know it would take a long time, but how hard is it to change the head gasket on a 2004 Toyota Highlander? I have a garage so I could take a week or two if I needed to, spending 3 or 4 hours a day. Is this something I could realistically do? How long would it take, and how hard is it? I’ve heard it’s just time consuming getting everything apart.

A: 4 cylinders are very simple to work on. IF you are lucky you can change the head without removing the timing belt or timing chain. ( I usually use a wire or strap to hold the timing gear up and tight when removed from the head.) You probably know somebody that has a little more mechanical experience that can give you some pointers. The Haynes manual is a must. Some Toytoa dealers will copy the Toyota repair pages and torque specs for you if the service manager is nice…

I always am able to remove the 4 cyl head (and inline 6 cyl) with Intake and Exhaust manifold still on, it is heavier but saves a lot of problems with gaskets and bolts.

BE SURE the timing is set for Top Dead Center (firing) for number one cylinder before starting or if something goes wrong it can be a major pain to get timing reset.

Q: Is my Toyota Highlander Limited or not Limited?
I recently bought an 05 toyota highlander, when I checked the VIN # it said that it was a limited edition but it doesnt say that it is a limited, it doesnt have leather seats or power seats or an entertainment system. Nowhere else does it says that it is a Limited edition. How can I find out if my highlander is a limited.

A: write down the serial number and call the parts dept of any reputable Toyota dealer. they can run the number on dealer daily(their program) and it will list all the pertinent information.
It helps if you do business at that dealer as you are their customer and they want to retain you as a customer for parts and service.

Q: Does anyone know a bank that will refinance 2001 Toyota Highlander?
I have a 2001 Toyota Highlander that I would like to refinance. When I bought it I was at the tail end of filing my bankruptcy so got a horrible 17% APR. It’s almost two years now since my bankruptcy has been finalized and my credit score is now 670/680. Does anyone know a bank that will approve car refinancing for people in my situation? Thanks a bunch!!!

A: A bankruptcy stays on your credit report for seven years. If you are past those seven years, then you should have no problems, assuming your income and debts are no problem. Actually, many lenders now want to see at least a 700 score, but if you shop around you should be able to find one that will accept your 670, although the interest rate might be a little higher than normal — 10%-12%.

Another potential probem: If you are upside down (owe more than your car is worth), lenders won’t refinance you for the amount you still owe, which means you would have to come up with cash to make up the difference.

Q: Can anyone tell me about the EMF levels in Toyota Highlander-Hybrid as opposed to Ford Escape?
I am thinking of buying a new Toyota Highlander-Hybrid and I’ve heard the EMF levels are lower than Ford Escape. Anyone out there concerned about this? HIghlander costs much more, Escape gets higher MPG, but I’m concerned about my health.

A: Toyota Highlander-Hybrid the EMF levels are lower than Ford Escape. HIghlander costs much more, Escape gets higher MPG. You decide

Q: Which vehicle would you buy? a Honda pilot or a Toyota Highlander?
I am looking into purchasing a new vehicle and it is down to two types of cars. a Honda Pilot and a Toyota Highlander. I need the following. 4 wheel drive good gas milage and a care that looks semi manly and not a mini van. My Truck has 200,000 miles on it and it is time to get a vehicle. I can not get a truck due to my wife having a new model than mine. What cross over would you recommend?

A: Personally, I would go with the Toyota Highlander. I think it has a very sleek and beautiful look. I feel like it has that look where you, as a man, can drive it and enjoy it without looking like you’re driving a chick’s car. I was actually just looking at Rav4’s and Highlander’s at a Toyota dealership a couple of days ago and the Highlander is absolutely gorgeous. Sitting inside of it made me feel like I was sitting in a luxury SUV, haha. And, I believe it was fully loaded for $29000.

As for gas mileage, the Highlander gets slightly better gas mileage according to the car’s respective websites.
Pilot – 16/22
Highlander – 18/24

Both Honda’s and Toyota’s have great resale values and neither are minivans, yet have the space of one, but I would go with the Toyota on this one. Looks good, great gas mileage for an SUV and the best part of all, NOT a minivan (I don’t like them either)!

Q: Should I wait for the 2008 Toyota Highlander?
I love the 2007 Toyota Highlander, but I’ve heard they are going to offer a completely redesigned model in 2008. Should I go ahead and buy this SUV that I love now, or should I wait for the redesigned model?

A: new models always have problems so if you like the current one go for it… the new highlander is going to be larger and more powerful i hear… i would get the current one, it is nice.

Q: what do you think about the toyota highlander?
what do you think about the toyota highlander nice drive, nice details, safe for kids or what is it a yes buy or no buy?

A: Wonderful SUV, just stay way from the hybrid models, very heavy, one of the normal highlanders is way better, totally buy one.

Q: Driverside fender and bumper of my 150kmi well working Toyota Highlander are dented. Is it worth fixing them?
Driverside fender and bumper of my 2001 Toyota Highlander (2wd v4) are badly dented. Is it worth fixing them? Even with 150,000 miles, the car works well, but needs a new timing belt soon. If I should fix it, how much should I spend on it? Should I even consider selling a car like this or drive it to the ground?

A: i would put a timing belt on and drive as is
